7 Tips to help you stop eating meat

Did you decide to stop eating meat but you don’t know what to do next? Or have you started and are always tempting and craving meat? If you want to stop eating meat it may not be easy. It’s a adjustment just as all diets are. You will want to give up, give in or have temptations. I want to give you the ultimate list into transitioning.
- Remember why you want to stop eating meat or animal products. Whether it’s humane issues environmental issues health issues or whatever you decide, remind yourself all the time why you want to stop eating meat. Embed it into yourself and keep focus. Whenever you see a piece of meat remember why you’ve decided this isn’t for you.
- Start Small. If you decide to stop eating meat cold turkey it may be challenging because you will eventually see something that you want to eat and you will temp yourself because you didn’t have a chance to have a chance to withdraw it out your system. (if that makes sense). If you know you want to stop eating meat start with not eating meat for a week straight then increase it to 2 weeks then to a month. While reminding yourself why you want to stop eating meat of course. One day you may realize that eating meat is or isn’t for you.
- Find substitutes. Just so you know there are many substitutes for all you animal eaters. Eating meatless options that taste exactly like meat and it’s fast and easy to prepare. There’s almond milk and soy milk vegan cheese and many many other options. You can also look online for many more recipes there are a billion of them.
- Go in with a plan. Meal plan. Prepping your meals will help you a lot along the way. When I stopped eating meat I really didn’t know what to cook other than beans and rice. It seems hard to decide what to eat when you don’t have chicken or cow on your plate...I’ve been there. I meal prep my foods every Sunday afternoon for the week so I never have nothing to eat. Benjamin Franklin once Said “by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail”.
- Keep researching & never stop. When I stopped eating meat I watched movies and documentaries that would make me horrified to ever eat meat again and would add reassurance to my decision. Still to this day 2 years later I’m still watching videos and reading about this topic, you can never stop learning.
- Make sure you are getting enough vitamins. This is very important because if you are not getting enough protein or b12 your body will crave meat. You can either take supplements drinks, or eat protein and b12 packed foods like beans tofu spinach and more.
- Try and find other people who want to set goals with you. It’s not easy taking something out your diet when people are around you planning for your downfall. Stick with people who want to do this with you. It will be easier to set goals and challenges with someone else.
