Fried "Chicken" Cauliflower (VEGAN)
Everyone always asks me what’s my favorite vegan food and I always say fried cauliflower. I love cauliflower you can make anything with it and this is one of the easiest meals, also there’s no weird expensive ingredients. It’s one of those meals you eat when you miss that “fried chicken” taste (well at least I do). If you ever made fried chicken you can make it the same way. However if you didn’t I’ll show you how it’s done.
What you need:
1 head of cauliflower
2 cups flour
3 tablespoons salt
3 tablespoons of black pepper
3 tablespoons of garlic
3 tablespoons of onion powder
3 tablespoons of poultry seasoning
1 1/2 cups of vegetable or canola oil
2 eggs
1 tablespoon hot sauce
First heat your oil in a skillet so it can be hot when you place the cauliflower in. Make sure it’s around medium high heat. If you put it on low your cauliflower will be soggy.
While it’s heating up cut your cauliflower in pieces in the size you like. I like my pieces in small to medium sizes.
After you cut then place two bowls. One with the eggs and hot sauce and the other with flour and all your seasonings.
Place cauliflower in the bowl with the eggs and hot sauce first. With your hand or spoon make sure they are smothered in eggs. Then when your done place the egg smothered cauliflower in the seasonings. I like to do this step again and put it back in the eggs and flour to make them crispier, however if you like yo
u can skip it and go on to the next step.
Finally add your seasoned cauliflower to the hot oil for about 7-10 mins until they are brown. Then flip on the other sides for 7-10 mins each until the whole piece is fully brown.
Put them on a plate with a napkin so the napkin can absorb some of the oil.
Now that’s my fried cauliflower recipe. I like to add bbq sauce, hot sauce, and even burbon sauce. You can add any sauces, seasonings that you'd like or even eat it alone. I pair this with a nice salad or my famous cauliflower Alfredo (as you can tell I love cauliflower).
